So, I decided to make a post about this here on my blog. I wanted to tell you all who still want to play the Diabolik Lovers series in English, that I’ve asked IdeaFactory if we still have a chance to get Diabolik Lovers for the US / EU market. (I know that Rejet is the developer but IdeaFactory is the publisher, so I asked them about it.)
And here’s the answer I got:
SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
I can tell you and it is simple:
1. There is still hope
2. Buy their Otome Games that are already published in English (US/EU)
I have all of the English published Otome Games from them (and others they worked on as well) and I can tell you that they’re all damn amazing! The stories and characters are really great and the art of all games is just hifjhogihjg o(≧▽≦)o
They have me as a great fan for many years now.
“But I’m only interested in DL, not in the other games. So why should I buy them?”
You may ask now. And I can give you the answer: The market for Otome Games in US/EU is very small compared to the JP market. So we need to show publishers like IdeaFactory that it’s worth their money they have to invest beforehand for translators, developers and others to even consider publishing more of their games for us.
How can we do this?
WE NEED TO BUY THEIR GAMES THAT ARE ALREADY PUBLISHED HERE.
Just hoping for it isn’t enough. They need to see in numbers ( > profit *cough*) that we are interested and it’s worth their investment! (This is just how a company works, no matter how much they love what they’re doing. They need to buy food and pay their rents as well. This is a first hand info from me.)
Now with the new title “Lost Eden” currently released, it’s a good time as well to show them that we want this series over here as well.
I’m also in the Hakuouki fandom and I can tell you that we managed to get an English release for the new game (will be released in spring 2017) because we bought the old game and wrote many polite messages and mails to IdeaFactory and Aksys. But this was very well coordinated, each one of us wrote only one polite message so they don’t get too spammed and we all applied the same standards like not mentioning things we didn’t like etc. The Hakuouki fandom is smaller here than the DL fandom. There’s not so much hate and drama around there tho *broad hint*
So, please don’t write a message or mail if you don’t plan to be 100% kind, polite and positive, or you’ll make it probably worse.
Now, which Otome Games are already published in English from !f ?
As I said I have all of them and they’re all amazing. And here are they, just click on the device of the title and it’ll lead you to the !f international page and from there you can either visit the game website or your store (US and EU).
1. Hakuouki
So don’t start to panic now, you don’t have to buy all of them. The stories are all the same, just different names for different devices - EXCEPT THE NEW ONE “Hakuoki ~ Kyoto Wind" !
This is a smaller one but with great art. But it’s made like the Dating Sims for and only for mobile so yeah, your decision. Great art and a cute story tho.
Info: if you want to have the Limited Edition with body pillow etc you have to buy it at the EU store! As far as I know it’s sold out in US. You can buy the LE with or without the Steam key. For example I bought the Limited Edition without the Steam Key and bought the game itself at PS Network for my Vita.
Just in case you don’t know STEAM: It’s a program you can download for free to your PC/Laptop/whatever in case you don’t have a PS Vita or don’t want to use the free space on your mobile. You make an account where all your games are saved and yes~ you can play all games from there on your PC ^w^ There are some games that are for free as well and many games have free demo versions you can get before buying the actual game.
So at least with this one no one can tell me they couldn’t buy it because they don’t have a Vita <.<
Well and that’s it from me. Sorry for the long post but yeah, I wanted to share and tell you all..
Please support them.
I really hope we can be a proper fandom and work together just once. It would be great to see that we’re somehow still worth it :’D And even if I already have the Japanese versions, I’d still buy the English ones as well - it’s just more comfortable <.<
Thank you for reading and sorry again!
And if you really don’t want to support them, please at least reblog! Thanks!
