nbkatsukiyuuri:

I rewatched the finale of A:tLA last night and I was struck again by how sad Azula’s character is. She is just as much a victim of her father as Zuko is, it just manifests differently for her. I mean from childhood her father has twisted her to hate her own mother and to view her own family members as the enemy. She doesn’t have the kind of positive role model that Iroh is to Zuko. She’s fourteen years old and alone, dealing with the madness of her father. Azula and Zuko’s roles could have easily been switched, it was just a matter of who their father chose to favor. Azula never really had a chance at the redemption arc Zuko got and I think that’s terribly tragic.
